Students from all over the US participate in a MITE program on U-M’s CoE campus in Ann Arbor. Michigan Introduction to Technology and Engineering (MITE) is an intensive three-week residential program for current 9th and 10th grade students. Participants study mathematics, engineering concepts, communication skills, and academic study skills in regularly scheduled classes. MITE students have the opportunity to interact with engineering role models through field trips, speakers, and enrichment activities conducted by university faculty, staff, and students. A guidance component focuses on preparation for the college experience, including information about admissions, financial aid, and success skills needed to do well in high school, as well as college.
